Ace Hardware

Ace retailers participate in two in-store Miracle Balloon campaigns each year, and the Ace Hardware Foundation hosts a number of major fundraising events. Their success stems from creative fundraising efforts and the generous contributions of Ace retailers, vendor partners and Ace team members. In addition to these large events, Ace retailers and Ace retail support centers and store owners host a number of regional fundraising events ranging from golf outings, barbeque events, fishing tournaments and garage sales.

Arby's

Arby's was founded in 1964, but the concept for a roast beef sandwich franchise was rooted many years earlier. Forrest Raffel, a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration, and his younger brother Leroy, a graduate of Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, bought an uncle's restaurant equipment business in the 1950s. Rite Aid

Rite Aid Corporation, with more than 3,500 stores in 30 states and the District of Columbia, has raised funds for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals with an annual balloon campaign since 1994. Rite Aid's 73,000 associates are dedicated to giving back to the communities in which they serve.

The Miracle Balloons sold at Rite Aid locations include valuable manufacturer’s coupons, rewarding customers for their generosity. In addition to selling the $1 paper balloons, individual stores create their own unique ideas to raise funds including bake sales, carnivals, sports memorabilia auctions, bar-b-ques, golf tournaments and car washes.

Spokane Chiefs Hockey

The Chiefs' main charitable partner is the Children's Miracle Network, which is committed to helping hospitals help kids. Players will visit local pediatric wards throughout the season spreading goodwill or just spending a little time with the children.

Walmart

In the United States, Walmart operates more than 4,000 retail locations consisting of Walmart Stores, Supercenters, Sam’s Clubs and Neighborhood Markets. The company employs 1.8 million people, and more than 150 million customers visit a Walmart store each week. But in addition to being the world’s largest retailer, Walmart has another important distinction: Walmart is the United States’ largest corporate donor of cash, contributing over $275 million last year to charitable causes (which equals almost $32,000 an hour or over $8 a second.)

Walmart’s drive to give back to the communities they serve began with the company’s founder, Sam Walton. He believed strongly that good business and good citizenship go hand in hand. In 1987, ‘Mr. Sam’ was approached by Children’s Miracle Network to become a corporate sponsor and fundraiser. He immediately committed his company and its resources to raising money for children’s hospitals with the promise that “the associates will amaze you.” And indeed they have!

Their passion pays off: In 2008 alone, Walmart and its associates raised a record-breaking $33.5 million for the 170 participating hospitals. If you ask Walmart leadership how they accomplish such a great task, they modestly reply, “It’s one associate, raising $1 for one child at a time.”
