Rachel Akins is a Registered Dietitian and certified diabetes educator at the Boldt Diabetes and Nutrition Center. She supports and educates those who are new to living with diabetes, those who just want to find out what is new with diabetes management, or those who feel overwhelmed and frustrated managing their diabetes. Rachel enjoys working with her patients to help them discover the best ways to manage their health through diet, nutrition, exercise, lifestyle changes, or, if needed, improved use of diabetes medications, including insulin pumps. Rachel also has a special interest in treatment of all nutrition related conditions including weight management, eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and pediatric feeding/ eating problems.
Akins receive her Masters in Public Health Nutrition from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC and has been been working in the field since 1998. She is a Certified Product Trainer for Medtronic, Animas, Tandem and Omnipod insulin pumps. In her spare time Rachel enjoys spending time on her small farm with her husband, three children and two horses.
