Sportsmetrics™ is the first ACL injury prevention course scientifically proven to reduce traumatic knee injuries in female athletes. Female athletes suffer from Anterior Cruciate Ligament, or ACL, injury rates that are 2 to 10 times higher than male athletes. This six-week course improves strength and agility for prevention. Although the course was designed for female athletes we believe all young athletes, male and female, can benefit from Sportsmetrics™.
We are the only clinic in the South Puget Sound area to offer this unique program for young athletes to prevent the rising occurence of traumatic knee injuries.
How does Sportsmetrics™ work?
We perform video analysis to pre-test the athlete's landing form, both jumping and landing. We then follow a six-week session of plyometric training and leg strengthening specific for their sport, the athlete will be given another video post-test to see their improvements to lessen strain to their legs and knees thus improving performance in their desired sport and decreasing the chance of serious knee injuries.
A home program is also given to continue the athlete's peak performance following the six-week course.
What should I wear to my first appointment?
Young people should wear comfortable clothing of sport shorts and t-shirts along with wearing proper running or cross-training shoes.
What can I expect during Sportsmetrics™?
Expect to jump, be testing for your flexibility and be videotaped so a program can be started for you to improve strength, flexibility, quickness and your vertical jumping all while reducing possible injury. This is a workout that can test your endurance. Water and towels are available but you can bring your own as well.
Your video pre and post tests will last 45 minutes. Each training session is between 30 and 45 minutes, 3 times a week for six weeks.
