Clinical trials are carefully performed research studies that answer questions about new therapies and treatments, with the goal of finding safe and effective approaches to care. Providence Regional Cancer System, and its affiliated physicians, participate in national trials to study a variety of cancers.
Genetic testing and counseling provide information and guidance to help people understand their risk for hereditary conditions, including specific cancers.
Our Imaging Centers and our partners at South Sound Radiology offer imaging tests to our patients and to the community at large. Equipment includes advanced technologies such as Computed Radiography (CR), Multi-Detector CT Scanning, PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography with Computer Tomography) as well as Bone Density scanning (DXA or Dual X-Ray Absorptiometry).
At each of our infusion therapy clinics in Aberdeen, Centralia and Lacey, patients receive care from experienced nurses who are specially trained and certified in administering chemotherapy. Our nurses, some with 15-20 years of chemotherapy experience, are devoted to helping patients deal as smoothly as possible with their cancer treatments.
This program is designed to stimulate your body’s healing potential through a range of complementary therapies tailored to meet your individual needs. Providence uses practitioners who are certified to provide treatment and support that works along with your conventional medical treatment. Current methods include: yoga, acupuncture, massage, naturopathy and nutrition. Services are available in Centralia and Lacey at this time.
Lymphedema can occur if you have lymphoid tissue removed during your treatment or evaluation. Sometimes, a buildup of fluid in the soft tissue of the arms and legs may occur.
Certified by the State of Washington and COLA, our labs are conveniently located in Aberdeen, Centralia and Lacey and provide tests for our oncology patients.
Services are provided by a trained licensed counselor with a master’s degree in social work and specific training and national certification in oncology social work. You have access to free cancer-related counseling on a limited basis.
Providence’s patient navigator program helps you coordinate the many services you may need during your cancer journey. The navigator links you to information and guidance about support programs, financial assistance, home health care, insurance and transportation.
