Cancer Support Group. Meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. in the Cancer Center Conference Room at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. The group is helpful for people at any stage of the cancer journey.
Spanish-language Cancer Support Group. Meets the third Friday of the month from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.in the Marian Room at Providence St. Mary.. Please call the facilitator, Zenaida Guevara at (509) 200-9537 for more information.
Walla Walla Breast Cancer Survivors Group. Meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Marian Room on Level 1 near the cafeteria at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. Call (509) 522-5831
Free smoking cessation.
Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center offers free smoking cessation classes. We want to support you in your decision to quit and help you have a better chance of success. Quitting smoking is not easy, but you can do it. View schedule of classes.
Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery (CLIMB) is a support program dedicated to the emotional support of children who have a parent or grandparent or other family member with cancer. The free program offers four weekly, 90 minute group meetings for children ages 6 to 13. During the meetings discussion and arts and crafts are used to help children express their feelings. Offered several times a year.
Creative Expressions helps cancer patients explore painting as a means of expressing feelings in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental setting. There is no need for prior experience and materials are provided. Classes meet on scheduled Wednesdays from 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Hope in Motion, a free Pilates class for cancer survivors, is offered quarterly in Cancer Center lobby. The class emphasizes restoration of movement and improving functional ability, day-to-day activities and overall well being. Medical releases are available from the Cancer Center, and must be signed by the participant’s doctor prior to the start of the class. Participants do not have to be Providence patients in order to participate. Please register at the front desk of the Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center, or by calling (509) 522-5700. Look Good Feel Better, a free national public service program, helps women with the appearance-related side effects of treatment. Trained volunteer cosmetologists teach women how to cope with skin changes. Hats, scarfs and wigs are provided, as well as tips for their use. Held in the Cancer Center Conference Room on the second Wednesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. RSVP is required. Call (509) 529-8930 to register.
