Providence O’Christmas Trees raises record $1.57 million to benefit seniors and people in need in the community

One tree sells for $50,000!!!

IMG_3192SEATTLE (Dec. 5, 2016) — Supportive bidders and guests raised a record $1.57 million to benefit those in need with healthcare, housing and hospice services at the 32nd annual Providence O'Christmas Trees gala and dinner on Nov. 30, 2016.

Led by co-chairs Dana and Majdi Daher, founder and chief executive of presenting sponsor Denali Advanced Integration, 850 guests showed their generosity by bidding on uniquely decorated Christmas trees and other items to welcome the holiday season with style. The favorite - O’Holy Night Cantique de Noel tree - sold for $50,000 to Majdi and Dana Daher and David and Sandy Sabey. They donated it to Providence Mount St. Vincent, where residents of the West Seattle nursing home will enjoy the beautiful white flocked Northwest alpine adorned with a collection of hand blown glass ornaments and contemporary outdoor Nativity holiday yard display.

"Because of our amazing donors, Providence O'Christmas Trees was a tremendous success," said Patricia Szabo, executive director of Providence Senior and Community Services Special Events. "Together we raised $1.57 million - the most we have ever raised - and donations are still coming in. The trees were gorgeous. Our Wonderful Life Fund-a-Need, which helps support the programs that go above and beyond traditional care for those served by Providence Senior and Community Services, was the best ever. Majdi Daher made a gift of $25,000 to kick off everyone's effort to raise $311,000! I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our donors, our sponsors and to all the guests who made it such a special evening for all of Providence."

Guests who attended the gala at The Westin Seattle enthusiastically bought 15 beautifully decorated Christmas trees loaded with toys and gifts and several donated their trees to other charities to help spread the holiday cheer. Pemco Insurance purchased the "Christmas for Teddy" tree and donated it to Harborview Medical Center, donor Matthew Kaplan purchased the "Northwest Outdoor Adventures" tree for Providence Marianwood, and other generous donors purchased the "Pacific Northwest Plaid" tree for a Providence corporate building and Rod and Nancy Hochman purchased the "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" tree for Seattle Children's Hospital.

_DSC5742This was the 32nd anniversary of Providence O'Christmas Trees, which has become Seattle’s premier kick-off to the holiday season. Proceeds benefit the 23,000 individuals served each day through Providence hospice, home health, skilled nursing, assisted living, home infusion, pharmacy, Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and supportive housing ministries.

Retired KING-TV anchorman Dennis Bounds, back for his 14th year, served as master of ceremonies of the gala.

Providence Health & Services has provided healthcare, housing and supportive careservices for people in the Puget Sound area for 160 years. Money raised from this event provides programs and services serving those who are elderly or disabled, disenfranchised, or facing end of life. They are served by Providence ElderPlace, Heritage House at the Market, Providence Hospice of Seattle, Providence In-Home Services, Providence Infusion and Pharmacy Services, Providence Supportive Housing, Providence Marianwood, and Providence Mount St. Vincent - all of which are available to residents of King County.

Next year's event promises to be just as successful. Save the dates!
