Philosophy of Care

Cardiac surgery is a very important undertaking for any patient and I believe it is important to take the time to make sure that both the patient and their families are comfortable with the plans for their surgery, with our facility and with myself. I believe it is important to consider the needs of each individual patient and tailor the operation and their care to meet those needs.

Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

Dr. Austin provided clear, helpful, and comforting explanations to my legally deaf and blind aunt of 95 year. She paid close attention to him because he spoke loudly and clearly directly to her. "She fell in love once again!!" He is the GREATEST. #1. [...]
