Philosophy of Care
In a traditional sense, doctors are teachers. This is the role I enjoy and value most in the work that I do. It drives me to continually learn and critically evaluate the science behind our fund of medical knowledge and its evidence-based approach to patient care. It motivates me to work to communicate and convey this knowledge to my patients in a meaningful way so that they may be empowered by it to make healthy choices in their lives. My philosophy of care is informed by my understanding that health is the product of not just our biology, but also important psychological and social factors. As someone who values the role of educator in the work that physicians do, I believe the best health outcomes for patients are possible through open, honest partnership and my attentiveness to the individuality of each person’s circumstances.
