Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

I'm elderly (79) and often can get confused. So my daughter handles most of the scheduling and follow-up calls, discussions of procedures, etc. She goes with me to make sure we get the correct information. He asked me for information, and if I had trouble understanding, he let her have input to help me. He never made me feel like I wasn't there or badly because I had difficulty. He was so understanding and helpful.

Dr Ling and team are excellent! My 16 year old daughter has a brain tumor and she loves the team. They treat her as a person and do not over look her to speak to me. They talk to her so that she understands and can answer for herself making her feel involved with her health.

This was my first visit with Dr. Ling. I was pleased with the nurse, his assistant, and of course Dr. Ling. He put me at ease about the tumor I have which took away my fears and worry.

The provider was a specialist, I was referred to him. I spent most of my appointment time with his nurse practitioner who asked all the questions and did all the testing, etc. She was great and obviously reported her assessment to the doctor. The appointment was about 15 minutes, 12 minutes with the nurse practitioner and 3 minutes with the provider and most of that was him studying my MRI results.

The staff was remarkable in getting referrals for P.T. and EMG . Dr, Ling and his staff are wonderful. I know Dr. Ling from my experience with him in surgery , also [...] who assisted him. I knew both of them are first class practitioners , I was pleasantly surprised that the office staff have the same degree of professionalism ,

Long wait for appointment. Office visit too short. Referral process a nightmare. I felt we only discussed what my insurance would cover.

Dr. Ling listened to my questions and concerns at our first appointment. However, he didn't seem concerned about my overall health after that. […]He reviewed the MRI, he ordered, and then told me to "call when I wanted to do surgery." I didn't feel educated enough to make a decision or that he took enough consideration to dive deeper than what he initially found on the MRI. […] I scheduled a 3rd appointment for when he was not on call and at the end of the day. I had to wait 3 months for it. We went through a number of questions I had, however, he wasn't interested in assessing any of my other health concerns I addressed. I feel Dr. Ling is very capable of performing the surgery but I am concerned I will not get the care I need after the surgery. I also get the feeling he has a very large load of patients and this is affecting the quality of care that he is able to provide to each patient.

Dr. Ling was very gracious and went over my MRI's very well, explaining that there is no need for surgery at this time. I was very pleased with that. He explained that a lot of my pain is arthritic, but that my insurance wouldn't cover [...]. He didn't suggest anything else. I am still in pain and am left to deal with it. That is disappointing.
