Dr. Quinton has expertise in cardiac, thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery. He is also skilled in thoracic critical care. He is currently the Director of the Cardiac Surgery Program and has served as Chairman for the Department of Surgery at Providence St. Peter Hospital. He also has training and experience in surgical critical care, non-invasive vascular surgery, quality assurance initiatives in surgery and many other areas within his field.

Dr. Quinton has several years of clinical experience, including serving six years in the United States Air Force Medical Corp, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In his time at Keesler Air Force Base, he served as Chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, Director of Non-invasive Vascular Lab and Co-director of the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit. He has served as a clinical instructor in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Utah School Of Medicine and served on the teaching staff at the Joint Military Medical Command Center Residency in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Quinton has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, including the Journal of Cardiac Surgery, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has also presented on numerous surgical topics for national and international conferences.

His writing, research and presentations have dealt with surgical treatment of ventricular arrhythmias; coronary artery bypass grafts; muscular ventricular septal defects; chronic costal cartilage infections; mediastinal tumors; standards of care in cardiovascular medicine; topics in lobectomy; emergency coronary bypass surgery; intractable cardiovascular collapse associated with left main coronary artery stenosis; recurring catamenial pneumothorax (collapsed lung associated with menstruation and endometriosis); off-pump and on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting strategies; and more.
