Total Joint Replacement Surgery - Centralia, WA
Centralia Orthopedics & Centralia Joint Replacement
The Total Joint Center at Providence Centralia Hospital provides a complete experience for patients who choose to have a knee or hip replaced.
From your first physician visit to your final physical therapy visit, we strive to provide you medical care and customer service that is second to none in western Washington.
Our goal is to keep you well informed throughout the entire surgery process. When you schedule a total joint surgery, you will receive a Total Joint Handbook from your physician's office. This guide provides information about the surgical process, from pre-operative visits to the day of surgery to post-surgical exercises and precautions.
You will visit the pre-admit clinic, where one of our nurses will review your medical history and ensure all the necessary tests have been performed prior to surgery. Depending on your medical history, you may need a screening by an anesthesia team member. This screening will be performed during your pre-admit appointment.
Total Joint Education Class
This 60-minute class is taught by Providence nurses, physical therapists and social workers. You and your coach/support person will learn more about the surgery and recovery process in the hospital and at home.
Discharge from Hospital
About 80 percent of our total joint patients return to their homes following their surgeries. On average, this happens the third day following surgery. Our patients are expected to make plans for someone to be with them for at least a week after their discharge from the hospital.
However, for a variety of reasons, some patients are not able to go directly to their homes. These patients may need a few extra days in a rehabilitation facility to help them regain their independence. Our social workers will work with the patient, physicians, nurses and therapists to coordinate this transition in a smooth, efficient manner.
Highly Regarded, Skilled Staff
Our nurses and therapists at Providence Centralia Hospital are highly qualified and experienced with total joint surgeries. The surgery department staff has won national awards for quality and efficiency.
The nurses and therapists of the surgical unit score very well on our ongoing patient satisfaction surveys, and our orthopaedic physicians have scored in the 99th percentile on patient satisfaction survey questions regarding their skill.
