After Surgery

After surgery, inpatients will be transported to a private room in the hospital.

You will be discharged from the hospital when your doctor determines you are ready to go home. If you are scheduled for an outpatient surgery, you will be discharged the day of surgery after an adequate period of recovery and observation.

Prohibited Activities After Surgery

Please do not do any of the following for 24 hours after your surgery:

  • Be alone
  • Operate heavy machinery
  • Drive a car
  • Drink alcohol
  • Sign legal papers
  • Be responsible for another person

It is very important to follow these directions because the medications you may receive can impair your judgment and response time. If you are stopped while driving, you can be charged with a DUI.
