When a disaster happens, do you have a plan?
Published April 13, 2015
In the case of a disaster, it’s important to have a plan to protect you and your family. Working together as a team to make a disaster preparedness plan can help ensure safety and comfort in an emergency. The Red Cross identifies steps to create a plan, some which include:
- Meeting as a family to discuss how to respond in an emergency
- Identify responsibilities for each family member
- Choose a meeting location
- Choose an emergency contact
- Think about your pets
It is also important to set aside some time to practice your plan so in the case of an emergency, your family is confident in what to do. In fact, Providence caregivers participate in emergency preparedness drills throughout the year to make sure they are ready for a disaster.
