Weight Loss Surgery Seminars: Gain Back Your Life
Published August 4, 2014
In support of our strategy to Create Healthier Communities, Together, Providence has partnered with our bariatric surgeons to once again offer weight loss surgery seminars to the community. If you or a family member is struggling with obesity and the complications it often brings, we encourage you to attend one of these free seminars.
Providence weight loss surgeons walk beside patients who are struggling with obesity and help them find a long term solution to creating a healthier and more enjoyable life. Once a person becomes severely overweight, diet and exercise programs can have limited effect, if any. Weight loss surgery is not magic but it is a powerful tool and for most, it is the only tool that can help successfully control their weight.
The more overweight a person is, the more likely that person is to have health problems. A study by the Journal of American Medical Association in 2004 shows how bariatric surgery can improve other medical conditions:
- Type 2 diabetes was improved significantly in 86% of patients and resolved in 76% of patients
- High Blood Pressure was improved in 78% of patients and resolved in 61% of patients
- Cholesterol levels were reduced in over 70% of patients
- Sleep apnea was eliminated in 85% of patients
Our weight loss surgery staff includes bariatric surgeons who are double board certified in surgery and obesity medicine; a level of skill and knowledge that very few physicians in the country have achieved. Attending a Providence seminar gives you an opportunity to meet one of the weight loss surgeons in person and learn about your weight loss options. Currently, there are four seminars across Snohomish County from which to choose:
- September 15, 6:30 pm in Monroe
- October 6, 6:30 pm in Burlington
- October 27, 6:30 pm in Mill Creek
- November 13, 6:30 pm in Everett
