Kadlec-Providence Affiliation Update

Published January 5, 2015

We continue to work toward completion of key milestones, and  have already had some successes, on our journey to provide the best care to the communities we serve.

Kadlec River Pavilion expansion and parking garage construction

Kadlec Regional Medical Center has plans for two significant construction projects in 2015 on the Richland campus. First is a 4- story expansion of the River Pavilion, raising the building to a height of 10 stories and adding an additional 100 beds to the current 270-bed capacity. At least one of the floors will be used for intensive care, with the remainder dedicated for acute care. Design work has been underway for the past several months, and construction is targeted to begin in March 2015. Occupancy is set for mid-2016.

Later in 2015, Kadlec will begin construction of a 600-space parking garage at the corner of Swift Boulevard and Goethals Drive. The 5-story structure will bring much-needed relief to parking challenges created on the Richland campus in recent years. The garage is expected to open in 2016.

As we move forward with these exciting projects, caregivers will begin to see the benefits of the newly aligned Real Estate and Construction team. Earlier this year, the Real Estate and Construction teams at Kadlec and Providence moved from operating as separate teams to a shared team. The new structure will benefit current and future construction projects as resources can be used across scale. This alignment will also enable both teams to share best practices, allowing Providence and Kadlec to best serve the communities of Southeast Washington and Northeast Oregon.

2014 has been a year of growth and change and we are proud to reflect on the milestones that have been reached and look forward to achieving more of them, together, in 2015. If you’d like to learn more about either organization, check out overviews of Providence and Kadlec.
