Choose Providence Cycle IV: Affordability Results

In an effort to prepare for the growing changes under healthcare reform and still ensure the creation of a high quality affordable system of patient care, Providence Regional Medical Center launched Part II of the 120-Day Affordability Cycle in early 2014. The purpose of this phase was to identify and reduce costs.

Thank you to all of the teams that contributed to Cycle IV.  We would especially like to recognize the following caregivers for their projects:

 

Largest Impact- CRM Vendor Contract

Sponsor: Dan Roehrich

Impact: Estimated $500,000 annualized impact

Description: Renegotiated contract with a 95% compliance requirement

 

Most Collaborative- Xiaflex Injections

Sponsor: Betsy Caldwell and Bev Jacobs

Impact: $45,000 annualized impact

Description: Reviewed and corrected coding to ensure proper billing and reimbursement of medication

 

Most Risk Taking- ICD-10 Staff Education

Sponsor: Lisa George

Impact: $140,000 annualized impact

Description: Challenged system ICD-10 education ‘requirement’ for all staff and revised education plans

 

Large Team Project- Environmental Services Workplace Injuries

Sponsor: Mark Jupiter and Jarrett Fournier

Impact: Reduction in employee injuries

Description: Implemented several initiatives to lower workplace injuries including use of electric tugs for linen and implementing an “Associate Safety Pledge”
