Introducing Digital Stars, the Providence online provider rating system
Published June 29, 2015
More and more patients are turning to the Internet to search for information about health care providers. And as they search, they find many physician rating and directory websites – like Healthgrades and Vitals – that claim to provide information about the quality of a doctor’s skills and credentials. Providence has no control over what gets posted on these physician rating sites, but by introducing our own online provider review and rating system our goal is to better manage the online reputations of our providers, be a more transparent source of reliable information, and increase the visibility of our providers in online healthcare searches.
On June 25, we launched an online rating system called Digital Stars for all of our Providence Medical Group physicians. Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) patient experience survey data for each provider is being gathered and aggregated to create a 1-5 star rating for each individual. The star rating will be published on the provider’s Providence internet profile, along with approved comments from patients about their experience. More details about Digital Stars are available in these FAQs online.
