Quality, compassionate psychiatry care; part of the Sacred Heart Mission since 1971.
Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital is the only private hospital in eastern Washington that provides inpatient psychiatry services. People of all ages who require intensive evaluation and treatment for acute mental illness benefit from our individualized treatment plans, provided by a multi-disciplinary team of care givers.
Adult psychiatry services are provided on a 48-bed locked unit, which includes general adult services, a 10-bed Geropsychiatry program and a 12-bed Acute Care Unit.
Child /Adolescent Services
Since 1984, the Psychiatric Center for Children and Adolescents has served youth between the ages of 12-18 years old who require the safe supervision and expert resources of an acute inpatient evaluation and treatment. Intensive partial hospitalization is offered through the BEST (Behavioral, Educational Skills Training) program for children attending grade school, K through 6th grade.
Emergent Psychiatric Triage
Licensed emergency psychiatric counselors are trained to evaluate and triage patients who come to the Emergency Department with psychiatric symptoms or illness from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 a.m. daily. The Emergency physician provides a medical screen and clearance, if required and then refers the patient to the triage counselor for a psychosocial and risk evaluation and safe disposition. These counselors work closely with the Crisis Services of Spokane Mental Health to assist the patient in receiving an individualized treatment in the least restrictive setting possible for their safety needs.
