Frequently Asked Questions - IMG
Do we have a "minimum score" for eligibility?
We have no minimum score expectations other than the applicant must have passed Part I and Part II CK of the USMLE or Comlex equivalents within two attempts and pass the USMLE CS or Comlex equivalent on first attempt prior to matching with our program. While we do not have a minimum score expectation we are a highly competitive program and have students with high scores applying.
Are we a competitive program?
Yes, very competitive. We receive approximately 800 applications each year for our seven positions.
Do we have any special requirements for international medical graduates? Specifically, do we require prior training?
We require that international medical graduates have active, unrestricted ECFMG certificates.
We require a clinical rotation of at least eight week's duration that involves direct patient care, with at least 6 weeks in a family medicine office in the United States for all applicants.
We also require applicants to have graduated from medical school within three years of beginning training in our program. If you have been out of medical school greater than three years you must be employed as a physician in your country within the last three years or currently doing clinical externships with direct patient care in the United States. Observerships do not count for this experience.
Do we sponsor visas (J1 student or H1B worker visas)?
We do not sponsor visas. Although we do accept ECFMG sponsored visas. We do not consider applications with only an EAD visa. You must be eligible to work in the United States by June 1st of the academic year in which you begin training (example: 6/1/16 for academic year 16-17).
Do we accept paper or universal applications?
