Clinical Pastoral Education
Providence St Peter Hospital offers clinical pastoral education (CPE), bringing together theological students and ministers of all faiths (pastors, priests, rabbis, imams and others) into supervised encounter with persons in crisis. The CPE program is designed to enhance personal, professional, and theological competency and to address the ACPE Outcomes and Objectives of Level I and Level II CPE. CPE asks that students take risks, try new approaches to ministry, reflect on their assumptions, and believe that every experience is an opportunity for learning. Our programs help students develop new awareness of themselves as persons and of the needs of those to whom they minister. Students will also develop a new understanding of ministry and skills in interpersonal and inter-professional relationships. We are accredited for Level I and II and Supervisory CPE by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and offer ACPE Certified CPE™.
The Providence St Peter Hospital CPE Program and its clinical placements are committed to providing an environment for learning which fosters human growth and dignity. St. Peter Clinical Pastoral Education Programs:
Rev Melinda E. Holloway is an ACPE Supervisor certified by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. Melinda is an ordained United Methodist minister and endorsed for Chaplaincy and CPE by the United Methodist Endorsing Agency. Melinda’s ministry experience includes chaplaincy in both pediatric and adult acute care settings, residential agency for youth, and local church ministry. Melinda’s interests include clergy support and development, family systems theory, process theology, spirituality of youth, the teaching and learning of spiritual care. Her supervisory style and educational philosophy is relational, dialogical, and collegial. Melinda presently serves as a member of the ACPE Pacific Region Accreditation committee and the Pacific Northwest Conference UMC Board of Ordained Ministry.
