Providence Mount Carmel Hospital has been awarded the 2010 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence for meeting or exceeding national performance standards for clinical care. The award specifically recognizes Mount Carmel’s efforts for reducing surgical complications and preventing infection.
VHA serves more than 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals and more than 28,000 non-acute health care organizations nationwide, supporting their efforts to improve their clinical and economic performance. Mount Carmel Hospital was one of eight VHA member organizations to receive the 2010 Leadership Awards for Clinical Excellence.
The award for Clinical Excellence recognizes hospitals for improving clinical quality, patient safety or the patient experience, and the winners had to meet standards for patient care, as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Process of Care Quality Measures and the CMS Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Patient Survey.
