May 30, 2012

Spokane, Wash. — Providence Medical Group (PMG) is acquiring Spokane Valley Family Medicine, effective June 1. As part of the transition, Spokane Valley Family Medicine will change its name to Providence Family Medicine – Spokane Valley.

The clinic includes eight general primary care physicians, and will continue seeing patients at its current location, 13102 E. Mission.

Providence Medical Group is the physician services organization within Providence Health Care (PHC), owner of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital and Providence Holy Family Hospital. It includes 226 physicians in Spokane and Stevens counties, 43 advanced practitioners, and approximately 400 support staff. In addition to primary care physicians, its medical staff includes a wide array of surgical subspecialists and medical specialists.

“We are excited to have Providence Family Medicine – Spokane Valley as part of our team,” says Kevin Sweeny, chief medical officer of Providence Medical Group. “The addition of eight family medicine doctors to the Providence network is part of our commitment to increase access to quality health care throughout the community,” he says.

“This is a good fit for our family medicine practice,” says Phil Woolf, MD. “Not only do we share a commitment to our community and our patients, but by joining with Providence we are able to manage care for our patients more effectively,” Dr. Woolf says.
