Children’s Hospital Receives Kohl’s Grant
October 29, 2012
Funds support injury prevention, safety education, for Spokane area kids and families
Spokane, WA—On October 27, 2012, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital received a substantial gift from Kohl’s Department Stores, in support of the Children’s Hospital’s commitment to injury education and prevention. The donation from Kohl’s occurred during the 48th Annual Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol Ski Swap at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds, where Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital trauma team members shared safety awareness tips to children and families who are preparing for winter sports activities.
The hospital’s trauma team intends to continue its mission of community education at the Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show, Hoopfest and other community events. The Kohl’s Cares grant in the amount of $54,761 will provide funding for paid media to promote kids safety as well as allow for the Children’s Hospital Trauma Services Department to continue the education of children through the Kohl’s Cares Injury Prevention Program.
“Now in its third year, the Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital Trauma Team has presented the Kohl’s Cares Injury Prevention Program to more than 70 classes, impacting the lives of approximately 1,800 students, stressing the importance of helmet and sports safety,” says Joyce M. Cameron, chief development officer for the Providence Health Care Foundation, which has received more than $222,000 from the Kohl’s Cares program over the course of five years.
Kohl's commitment to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one.
