Providence appoints new chief for Sacred Heart, Holy Family Hospitals
April 08, 2013
Spokane, WA—Providence Health Care has named Alex Jackson as the new chief executive of Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital, and Holy Family Hospital. Jackson fills the position vacated by Elaine Couture when she accepted a promotion as the chief executive for all of Providence Health Care’s 11 entities late in 2012. He will begin in his new role in Spokane on May 20, 2013.
For the last seven years, Jackson has been chief operating officer of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland. He has served Providence hospitals in Oregon for more than 15 years, overseeing the integration of services among three hospitals in the Portland area as well as the operations of major clinical programs including surgery, pediatrics, emergency, and heart and vascular services. He has successfully led initiatives in quality improvement, operational performance, business development and patient satisfaction.
“Alex is an accomplished health care leader with a successful track record of achieving superior clinical outcomes and excellent patient care experience,” says Couture. “But most importantly, he has demonstrated a personal commitment and dedication to the Providence Mission, vision and values.”
Raised in Montana, Jackson received his Master of Healthcare Administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed an administrative fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic. He and his wife have two children.
