Providence/Premera Joint Statement to Consumers
November 27, 2013
We regret the confusion resulting from recent media reports on the exclusion of Providence hospitals and providers in Spokane from some Premera networks. We know this a confusing time as new health plans become available through the Affordable Care Act.
Premera and Providence value our relationship. We work together on many important initiatives to improve the quality and affordability of care in Spokane and throughout the Pacific Northwest, including working closely together on Providence’s medical homes and Premera’s new Medicare Advantage program.
The vast majority of Premera enrollees are enrolled in plans that include all Providence providers in their network. Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital, Holy Family Hospital and the 500+ Providence Medical Group providers in Spokane are in Premera’s network for many segments of the market. This includes employer groups with 51 or more employees and Association health plans, Premera's grandfathered Individual market and Medicare Advantage. Premera’s new network for 2014 only applies to non-grandfathered individual and small employer group plans.
We know that people value the relationship they have with their doctor. Together, Providence and Premera will continue working to ensure that patients of Providence and members of Premera have the access they desire.
If a Providence healthcare provider or hospital is important to you and your family’s care, please contact Premera’s customer service team for more information on which Providence doctors and hospitals are in-network for your plan.
