Providence General Children's Association Awards $20,000 in scholarships

Everett, WA—Providence General Children's Association awarded ten $2,000 scholarships to Providence Regional high school volunteers. Each student volunteered at least 75 hours during their high school career either as a volunteer with Providence Regional or at Camp Prov (a day camp for children with disabilities). Recipients were also selected based on academic achievements and extracurricular activities. Scholarship recipients are:

  • Harsukhjit Deol (Marysville Getchell High School)
  • Deepkiran Singh (Kamiak High)
  • Yazmin Tang (Edmonds Woodway High)
  • Vienna Krumwiede (Archbishop Murphy High) 
  • Rachel Straughn (Cascade High)
  • Cecilia Nguyen (Archbishop Murphy High)
  • Rafael Achacoso (Mariner High)
  • Stanley Reyes (Marysville Getchell High)
  • Conner Simmons (Archbishop High)
  • Brandon Nguyen (University of Washington)

“The Children’s Association’s mission is to provide for the children of Snohomish County through a variety of programs and grants. We feel that helping smart, service-oriented young people like these will help secure a bright future for our community,” said Jana Shaw, Scholarship Committee Chair.

The Providence General Children’s Association Scholarship Program was started in 1989 granting one scholarship for $1,000 that year. Now the Children’s Association is celebrating 25 years of supporting promising youth in this community by awarding ten $2,000 scholarships.
