Spokane, WA—The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has donated $10,000 to support the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit expansion and modernization project at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. The grant will be matched by Providence Health Care Foundation. In recognition of Bank of America’s support for training and workforce development at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, a classroom in the new unit, which will be used for staff training, will be named after the bank.

“At Bank of America we’re working to connect communities to better economic futures by responding to fundamental issues related to jobs, housing and basic human services,” said Kurt Walsdorf, Bank of America’s Eastern Washington and Idaho president. “Access to quality health care improves the physical and economic health of our region, which is why we chose to invest in this project.”

“We appreciate Bank of America’s support of the CICU project,” said Joyce M. Cameron, chief development officer, Providence Health Care Foundation. “This donation will help ensure Spokane remains at the forefront of cardiac excellence for decades to come.”

Providence Health Care Foundation is in the midst of a community-wide fundraising campaign to support the CICU expansion. The project will improve access to critical care, increase the capacity of critical care beds and increase room size to accommodate modern equipment and care teams. The first phase of the project will be completed in May, with the entire project scheduled for completion in April 2016.
