Providence Institute for a Healthier Community highlights heart health at Stilly Resource Fair
April 13, 2017
Providence Institute for a Healthier Community participated in the Stilly Resource Fair on April 12, held at the Stillaguamish Senior Center in Arlington.
There were over 25 vendors present and about 150 participants attended.
The seniors were able to participate in free health screenings, acupuncture, immunizations, social service and holistic health information. This event also supported the center’s Aging Mastery Program®, which is a fun program that can help you improve your health, financial security, and overall well-being. The next 5 week program will launch Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 10:30 - 2:30 pm. Visit their website for other classes and event opportunities.
At the Stilly Resource Fair, the Providence Institute for a Healthier Community chose to highlight the heart healthy message of “Be Active, Eat Well, and Stress Less’’! Over 25 participants enjoyed an opportunity to test and enhance their health literacy with our ‘My Plate Quiz’, and earned the well-loved ‘thumbs up stress ball’. Many participants engaged us with questions about healthy eating, exercise, stroke awareness, accessing the Snohomish County Resource Hub LiveWellLocal© and the self-help resources provided online at Pathways to Health and hosted by Providence Institute for a Healthier Community. We also gave away over 50 flyers on choosing healthy ‘My Plate’ and steps to prevent Stroke, Heart Disease and Diabetes.
