Lily and Liam's Miracle Story

Lily and Liam

Lily and Liam were so anxious to begin life that they arrived 16 weeks early, weighing just over one pound each. They faced a host of medical problems including a brain hemorrhage for Lily and a bowel perforation for Liam.

With the support of the Spokane neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, the twins have fought hard since the beginning. Their mom, Audrey, described the first few months in the NICU saying “it was the toughest thing I’ve ever been through. Every moment in there could be the difference of life or death.”

After five months in the NICU, Lily was able to go home and Liam followed two weeks later. The twins are now growing older and their distinct personalities are starting to show. Lily is laid back and Liam is strong willed.

Audrey speaks highly of the care she and her family received at the Children’s Hospital saying “the entire staff of doctors and nurses is like family.” It is obvious Lily and Liam have a bright future ahead.
