Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center’s Mechanical Heart Program has participated in multiple clinical trials of devices for Bridge to Transplant (BTT) and Destination Therapy (DT). Currently, we are working on the HeartWare® trials, which are investigating the potential for these devices to be used for Destination Therapy. Recently, we were involved in the clinical trials that lead to FDA approval of the HeartMate® II for Bridge to Transplant and Destination Therapy.
As part of our commitment to advancing medical knowledge for the care of our patients, we continue to be involved in clinical trials. Our current areas of research include:
- Smaller Total Artificial Heart
- Outcomes of patients with temporary left and/or right ventricular assist devices
- Outcomes of patients after implantation of permanent ventricular assist devices
You may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials. For more information about our VAD studies, please call 509-474-2041.
