For Patients

If you or a loved one are being treated for a serious illness at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital or Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, you may be facing challenges dealing with pain and navigating complex medical decisions. The team at Providence Palliative Care Services is here for you. We offer a range of medical support and other services to help make your journey easier.

You, your family or any health care provider on your team simply needs to ask your doctor to call Providence Center for Health and Wellness at (509) 455-3854 and request the Palliative Care Service.

Will my doctor continue to care for me?

Yes. Your doctor will continue to take care of you and be in charge of your care. The Palliative Care staff will work with your doctor to ensure you get the best possible care.

Is palliative care the same as hospice care?

No. Palliative Care Services is based in the hospital. You can receive palliative care at any time during your illness and can receive all your other treatments at the same time. Hospice care is generally provided at home, where, typically, the patient has decided to forego curative treatments.
