Tumor Review Boards
The centerpiece of Providence Regional Cancer System is our multidisciplinary approach, which brings together cancer specialists across the Southwest Washington region and Seattle to be involved in your care team. At our weekly tumor review boards, your oncology team members come together to review details of your cancer treatment and work to ensure that the treatment you receive is the absolute best evidence-based medicine for you.
A tumor review board is a multispecialty group of health care providers who meet to review and discuss diagnostic information and medical treatment options for our patients with cancer.
We have seven tumor boards, reviewing cases to ensure best treatments in the following areas:
- Central Nervous System Cancers
- Breast Cancers
- Genitourinary Cancers
- Head & Neck Cancers
- Liver Cancer
- Molecular Cancer
- Thoracic Cancers
Depending on the specific tumor board, specialists who attend the boards include: surgeons (such as neurosurgeons, ENT surgeons, transplant surgeons, general surgeons and cardiovascular surgeons), radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and pathologists.
During a tumor board, a physician can submit a patient for a review in a multidisciplinary setting to ensure that all oncology colleagues within the larger cancer care system ensure the absolute best treatment available for the individual patient.
