Through the generosity of our donors, the Foundation helped make recent deep impacts at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. A sample of these include:
- 880 free room-nights for cancer patients traveling long distances offered at the Herring House, a 4-bedroom residence adjacent St. Mary donated by the Herring Family.
- 147 Free Screening Mammograms for women in our community who couldn’t otherwise afford this life-saving service, made available through the Foundation’s Jan Erickson Life Saver Fund.
- $64,000 towards 14 new infusion chairs in the Cancer Center, improving the comfort of our patients while receiving chemotherapy treatment.
In January 2012, Providence St. Mary Foundation became a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation with a mission to enhance the delivery of health care at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. The incorporation ensures each and every dollar raised stays in our community to support St. Mary, not other Providence ministries. Funds are raised through direct contributions; community events; bequests and other planned gifts. It is vital for all prospective donors to know that under this special foundation status, we operate completely and openly as a local organization.
Join individuals in the community like you who want to make a deep impact by ensuring quality health care stays local. With your help, we are creating a healthier community, together.
Foundation Funding Focus: Special Care Nursery
The 2017 Walla Walla Golf Classic’s fundraising focus was the Family Birth Center at Providence St. Mary Medical Center. Watch this video to hear the story of the Salgado family, and how our Special Care Nursery was able to care for their premature newborn, Iker.
The Golf Classic raised more than $180,000 this year. A portion of those funds were used to purchase three new Panda warmers for the Special Care Nursery, which were dedicated on November 21.
