Providence St. Peter Family Medicine residency is a multi-site program where the residents are assigned a primary clinic. They provide direct patient care, optimize pharmacy services and implement new initiatives. This allows the resident to foster ownership and independence at their clinical site.

Longitudinal Experiences

  • Family Medicine - resident specific panels with a focus on continuity
  • Education - numerous and varying opportunities to refine teaching skills
  • Practice Management - pharmacy service expansion and facilitation of interdisciplinary committees

Elective Experiences

Residents have a minimum of 12 weeks elective time.  Each elective may be done as a 2 or 4-week rotation or experiences can be blended. For example, if a resident is interested in geriatrics they may choose to create a 2-week rotation with time spent in the geriatric internal medicine clinic, with the skilled nursing facility pharmacist and rounding on geriatric patients with the medical residents. Residents are encouraged to create an experience unique to their personal goals.  New electives may be created at the resident’s request if appropriate documentation and deadlines are met.
