Continuing the Philanthropic Mission of the Sisters of Providence

By making a donation to the Providence Health Care Foundation, you help care for the most vulnerable in our community, and support breakthrough technology that saves lives.

In 2014, the Foundation awarded 517 grants, totaling more than $4 million at our Providence hospitals in Spokane and Stevens counties.

Your generosity helps us continue to support the programs, services, education and equipment that impacts and saves lives, right here in our community.

Hands that help. Hearts that care

Do something good for yourself, your community and your hospital! Mount Carmel Hospital volunteers meet new friends and enjoy the opportunity of new challenges while helping others.

What we do

Volunteers provide assistance at Mount Carmel Hospital in clerical and patient care areas. We provide newborn baby photos, sew Christmas stockings for babies born in December and take blood pressure screenings at community events, to name just a few activities.

  • Mount Carmel Hospital Gift Shop
Located on the main floor, the gift shop is staffed and managed by auxiliary volunteers.
  • College Scholarship
Each spring, we award a scholarship to a graduating senior entering a medical field of study.
  • Fall Fundraiser
Each November, committee members create and sell Christmas swags in our community. The proceeds are used to fulfill a variety of patient care "wish list" items for hospital departments.

Our History

The Providence Mount Carmel Hospital Auxiliary was organized by the Dominican Sisters and 10 charter members in September, 1964. It has grown to include more than 70 men and women who are committed to support our local hospital.
