Before You Get Started

Faculty Responsibilities

4 Weeks Prior to Start of Clinical Rotation:
  • Submit EPIC Electronic Medical Record Access Request to Renee.Porter@providence.org and cc’ PRMCEstudents@providence.org
  • If you have been notified of available EPIC Proficiency Lab dates, please reserve your preferred day as early as possible (you may indicate your preferred date in your email when submitting the EPIC Access Request spreadsheet). Lab training space can fill quickly and is subject to change.
  • Attend a Faculty Orientation session with Nursing Education. Dates will be sent to your school ahead of each academic quarter or semester. Approximately three trainings will be conducted per year.
2 Weeks Prior to Start of Clinical Rotation:
  • Verify that your students have completed all of the requirements on the Nursing Student section of the Prov Prep Portal.
  • Submit Pyxis Tutorial Completion Certificates and Student Pyxis Authorization Forms in one scanned PDF attachment to PRMCEstudents@providence.org. (Please note: Faculty members do not receive Pyxis access.)
  • Submit a completed Group Badge Request Form to PRMCEstudents@providence.org.
  • Coordinate a time to train your students on the Accucheck Glucose Meter:

Faculty Orientation

If you are a clinical faculty member coming to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for the first time, please complete the following (signed forms and completion certificates should be retained by your school and are subject to audit):

Step 1: Please print the Pre-Arrival Orientation Checklist for Nursing. Use this document to track your progress as you complete each of the steps below.

Step 2: Read and Review Guidelines

Step 3: Print, Review and Sign Required Forms
(click on form title to access the form; signed forms should be retained by your school)

Step 4: Review the Point of Care Presentation and Glucose Meter Policy below, and Print the Training Checklist and Quiz to bring with you to the clinical site.

Step 5: PYXIS Tutorial and Access:

a) Go to the BD Learning Portal (click on title to access)

b) Sign-up for an account using the following information:
1. Application to register for: Learning Compass
2. Email address: you may use any functional email address that you can currently access (Note: gmail.com addresses are not accepted for registration)
3. BD Brand for future training: Dispensing products
4. User Type: Student
5. Institution: select your school from the drop down list
6. Contact information: please enter personal contact information as requested
7. Title: Student (Nurse)
8. Password: create your own unique password; must contain 8 characters with at least 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, and 1 digit.

c) Once you have completed the registration process, please check the email account that you used to register for a confirmation email, and follow the instructions on how to complete your account setup.

d) Log in to the BD Learning Portal, and from the Learning drop down menu, select Browse Learning.

e) Scroll down to BD Pyxis ES System v1.5 for Nurses and Clinicians - Custom - Advanced - Profile - No Quiz (CLP-ES200-N_NQ)

f) Upon completion of the course, you will be transferred to another page where you will have the option to View My Certificate

g) Print your certificate and submit to your instructor.

Step 6: Hospira Plum A+ Smart Pump Training

a) Go to the Cerner uLearn Portal (click on title to access; you must use Internet Explorer for this tutorial)

b) Sign-up for an account
1. When asked for a Registration Key: Providence_Everett
2. Create a username and password that is unique to you
c) Once inside of the uLearn Portal, use the search bar in the upper right hand corner to search for Plum A+ Full

d) You will complete the PlumA+ Full WBT: 2007 module
