Rita retires after 44 years of service at Providence

Rita has served at Providence Regional Medical Center for 44 years. Rita started in the CCU (Coronary Care Unit) at Providence before moving to the combined ICU/CCU that was built in the now 2N site at Pacific Campus. When the hospitals merged in 1994, Rita moved to Colby in the CCU (Critical Care Unit) where she has been ever since. She currently serves as the Unit Supervisor. Rita has the ability to comfort anyone in any situation. Even when Rita gives constructive criticism, she does it in a way that . She always has a smile on her face and is so approachable. Many caregivers on the floor lovingly call her “Mama Rita”. She will be retiring to he soon-to-be remodeled home on the canal west of Bellingham with her husband, Skip. 

All caregivers are invited to celebrate with Rita at either of her two retirement parties:

  • Cake and punch: Thursday, July 23 (Rita's birthday!) in the 7S Report Room from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Retirement Party: Friday, July 24 at Sheila and Geoffrey Bleakney's residence from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Please email Sheila Bleakney for the address. BYOB.
