Providence Regional Medical Center Everett receives the 2014 Excellence in Donation Award
Published March 16, 2015
Providence Regional Medical Center Everett was recently awarded two of the highest honors from United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) 6 at the LifeCenter Northwest Conference. UNOS 6 encompasses Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii. The first of two awards was the Organ Donation Achievement Award for the percentage of donation referrals that PRMCE made in 2014. The second, Excellent in Donation Award, was awarded to PRMCE for being the top Donor Hospital in the UNOS 6 region for 2014. The award was based on improvement in the donation program, timely referrals, number of donors and amount of organs per donor.
We are so proud of our Critical Care Unit who has worked to improve our donation program. Our community endured many tragic events in 2014, yet the possibility for organ donation helps turn just a little of the suffering into service. In the words of our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Joanne Roberts, “Death, particularly death from trauma, is always painful for every caregiver. To offer someone else a chance to live provides a small flicker of light in an otherwise very dark time.”
