Medicare Shared Savings Program Will Expand

In only its second year, Providence’s Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) will expand its lives under management to about 65,000 patients from 27,000 in 2014. The increase stems from the program’s expansion in Washington state and new eligibility in Alaska and Montana. There are about 400 MSSPs. Providence’s participation in the program is important; in February Medicare announced its goal to tie 50 percent of all payments to quality measures by 2018.
