Providence Joint Replacement Program
Proven quality of care
The Providence Joint Replacement Program consists of highly trained experts whose technical excellence and commitment to individualized patient care make surgery at Providence one-of-a-kind. Over 1,200 orthopedic surgeries are performed annually at PRMCE which means you can count on quality care by the entire team.
Members of the Joint Replacement Team include surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing professionals and physical therapists, who all work together to provide excellence treatment. The team is always looking to find best practices and new technology that will improve quality of care and reduce patients’ recovery time.
One example of using forward-thinking technology is our MAKOplasty® robot for knee replacement patients. This computer-assisted robot allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive surgery which can reduce a patient's stay in the hospital and give them better long-term function.
In regards to hip replacement surgery, the most common approach is the lateral approach. However, the anterior approach has recently emerged as a viable alternative offering patients potentially shorter hospital stays and recovery time. Our surgeons work with each patient to provide individualized care for their specific needs. Talk to your healthcare provider for more information on hip replacement approaches.
All joint replacement patients will attend a pre-operative Total Joint Class where they learn about their patient journey, meet the orthopedic transition coordinators and can ask any remaining questions they have.
