When children are experiencing difficulties related to urinary, genital and kidney functions, they require specialized treatment. The Spokane pediatric urology specialists at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital implement some of the most technologically advanced procedures for diagnosing and treating children.

Pediatric urologic conditions are very different than those experience by adults. As with other children's specialties, pediatric training and experience help our Spokane pediatric urologists diagnose and treat even the most complex conditions in children. Their expertise minimizes surgical complications, and with therapies designed for just for children, can sometimes help avoid surgery altogether.

Children requiring diagnostic studies are referred to the Children's Hospital urodynamic lab, located close-by in the Continence Center. The program is designed to alleviate fears and make children as comfortable as possible. Urodynamic tests provide information about a child’s bladder and its ability to fill, store and empty urine. The results of this test help the urologist understand the child’s needs and determine the best plan of care.

We specialize in video-urodynamics, a new sophisticated test that improves the accuracy of diagnosis. This new technology, along with pelvic floor rehabilitation and medical therapy, has greatly improved the successful treatment of incontinence, giving the patient the confidence and freedom to return to an active lifestyle.

A Urodynamic study includes:

  • Uroflowmetry
  • Electromyography of the sphincter (EMG)
  • Cystometrogram (CMG)/Micturition
