Childbirth Classes

Prepared Childbirth

Six-week series

This course is designed for mothers and their support partners to begin during the 28th to 30th week of their pregnancy. It covers physical changes during pregnancy, comfort measures, exercises, labor and birth, pain management, newborn care, infant CPR, breastfeeding and what to expect after the baby is born.

A tour of the birthing center is included with the class. Classes meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Providence Room. View Prepared Childbirth Class Dates & Times

Refresher Childbirth Education

Two-week course

Classes one and two of the six-week series are the perfect classes for experienced parents who just need a refresher course. The classes meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Providence Room. View Refresher Childbirth Class Dates & Times

Nursing Mothers, Working Mothers

This one-session class is designed for the mother who is breastfeeding and returning to work. It offers practical tips for choosing a breast pump, establishing a milk supply and creating a pump routine. Call 509-897-5727 to register.

Childbirth Express Classes

This class is designed for busy mothers and labor partners who want to learn and practice labor techniques, but who may not have time to take a series of classes. The class will be held 12-4 p.m. in the Providence Room. View Childbirth Express Class Dates & Times

Newborn Care and Infant CPR Class

These classes are also part of the six-week Prepared Childbirth series and are a perfect refresher for experienced parents, grandparents and others who wish to know more about taking care of today’s newborn. Topics covered include swaddling, comforting, diapering and feeding your baby, normal newborn characteristics, infant safety, infant CPR and when to call your pediatrician. "I Was Here First" sibling Class

This one-hour class is recommended for children ages 3 and older, with their parent(s). It covers becoming a big brother or sister and how to adapt to a new baby at home. The class is held 2-3 p.m. in the Providence Room. Bring your camera! View Sibling Class Dates & Times

Mother/Baby Support Group

This group welcomes all mothers, with an emphasis on mothers who have infants from birth to 6 months old and who need breastfeeding support. This class meets in the Third Floor Meeting Room every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the exception of holidays. Registration is not required. A nurse attends, and there is a scale available to check your baby’s weight. A light lunch is served. View Mother/Baby Support Group Dates & Times
