Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take?

Pediatric and adult evaluations and treatments are typically 45 minutes. Your first appointment will be an hour long in order to give you 15 minutes to complete the form for your personal history. Wound care evaluations can vary from 30 to 75 minutes depending on complexity, and lymphedema evaluations are 75 to 90 minutes.

What should I wear?

For physical and occupational therapy visits, wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement, but is typical for what you wear at home. Please wear sneakers or other closed-heel shoes. If you normally wear a brace, please wear it in. For wound care and the lymphedema services, wear clothing that allows access to your wound or area of swelling if possible. We do have gowns available if needed. For speech therapy, no special clothing is required.

Should I bring anything with me?

For the check-in process, please bring your insurance cards and photo ID, prescriptions if any, and authorization letter if one was received. Please also bring any devices you typically use for walking such as a cane or walker. Also bring any braces, prosthetics, compression garments, wound dressing supplies, and splints you typically use. We also recommend you think about your goals for therapy, and make some notes of the questions and concerns to discuss with your therapist.

My prescription says I need to be seen 2 times a week for 4 weeks. Can I schedule all of these now?

No, because first you need to be evaluated to ensure you receive the optimal amount of therapy for your specific needs. We will schedule your evaluation first, then after you are evaluated will share that information with you and your doctor. The therapist will work with you and your referring provider on the recommended number and frequency of therapy visits. On an ongoing basis, we typically schedule appointments 1 to 2 weeks out to avoid the inconvenience to you of having to reschedule if anything changes.  If you have concerns about ensuring you have specific times and need to schedule over a longer period of time, please speak to our schedulers at the front desk so that they may accommodate you.
