What to Expect
When you arrive, the nurses will thoroughly assess your medical and rehabilitation needs and make you as comfortable as possible. Therapists and the physiatrist (rehabilitation doctor) may see you that day or first thing the next morning.
We want to make sure you are safe. Please check with staff before getting up by yourself or with family. If you need a wheelchair, walker, or other assistive device, therapists will help select the best device for your needs.
The nurses and therapists will help you with your bathing and dressing if needed. Please call for assistance before getting up. Most patients begin the day around 7:00 a.m.
Your day and week will include scheduled physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or speech therapy, regular visits with the physiatrist, weekly patient-family conferences and a variety of group education classes.
