ExpressCare Clinic- FAQs

Our board-certified providers are able to treat common conditions as well as screenings and tests. If you need additional care, we can refer you to one of our primary care physicians. Our qualified caregivers can test for common infections and test for as well as screenings and tests. Your medical record is accessible to all of our providers to ensure consistency and quality of care.

We do not provide care for emergent behaviors, complaints, or certain procedures. Examples of these are as follows:

  • Emergent behaviors: staggering, ashen, pale, sweaty appearance, unusual behaviors such as constant pacing, excessive crying in infants or children
  • Complaints: cardiac chest pain, severe abdominal pain, stroke symptoms, foreign body ingested or inhaled, head or neck injury, sexual assault, drug or chemical ingestion, severe burns, injury with loss of consciousness
  • Procedures: IUD removal or placement, complex wound repair/wound care, joint reduction, nasal packing, any procedure that may take more than 20 minutes

We offer vaccines for influenza; tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap); and tetanus diphtheria (Td) in our clinics. Additionally, we do not offer travel immunizations at this time.

Most lab tests take 3-5 days to process. You will be alerted of your results via e-mail, and you can access them via MyChart.

At your visit, our ExpressCare providers will discuss what kind of tests are needed. We can order X-rays where it is most convenient for you, such as near your home or with your primary care provider, if our ExpressCare providers believe an X-ray is necessary. This service is not performed inside our clinics.

Our ExpressCare providers are able to provide TB tests and reads throughout our Oregon and Swedish ExpressCare locations. Additionally, our Virtual Care providers can order these services at a location that is convenient for you.

Yes. We can test for all STDs. We can collect, send and/or order tests after discussing your concerns. If blood work is required, we can order this where it is most convenient for you, such as near your home or with your primary care provider.

ExpressCare providers can only conduct blood draws and labs when they are a part of your ExpressCare visit. Blood draws can be performed on-site at our freestanding clinics located outside of Walgreens or ordered at a lab that is convenient for you, if you are seen at one of our Walgreens locations. If a blood draw or lab was ordered by another provider, please call the ordering provider to find a lab that is in your area.

For refills to your narcotic prescription, please check in with either your prescribing provider or call your pharmacy for a refill.

You can access your MyChart account 24/7 where you will find information on your prescription and contact information for your provider. Also, you can call your preferred pharmacist or the original prescribing provider to discuss any questions you might have.

Yes, in most cases our ExpressCare providers can refill your prescription, but this is always at the provider’s discretion. We try to refill most medicines for 30 days. However, we are unable to refill or prescribe narcotics, anxiety, opioids, or ADHD prescriptions, due to DEA regulations. Please check with your prescribing provider or call your pharmacy for a refill.

Unfortunately, we currently do not provide these services within our ExpressCare clinics. If you are in need of any of these services, please check with your primary care provider, other urgent cares and emergency rooms to handle the exam and forms.

Yes, but only for those who are under the age of 21 and we are unable to do college physicals.

Yes. Our ExpressCare providers are happy to fill out forms but only for sports, school and camp physicals for those patients under the age of 21 – with a few restrictions. We cannot fill out forms for licenses, college non-rec sports and professional fitness, for example, forms like those for extreme wilderness experiences, reality shows, commercial drivers, diving and flying.

We’re unable to complete the pet travel forms and recommend that you speak with your Primary Care provider for additional instructions.
