Providence St. Mary Family Birth Center
The Valley’s only birth center
The Family Birth Center at Providence St. Mary Medical Center offers the comforts of a warm, comfortable home with state-of-the-art facilities to help you welcome your little one into the world.
We offer four fully-furnished birth suites—spacious rooms with lots of natural light and decorated in muted earth tones—that feature jetted two-person jetted tubs with underwater monitoring, so even moms whose babies need continuous monitoring can enjoy water therapy; built-in sofa beds that allow labor partners to stretch out, get a nap, or just relax for a few minutes; and comfort options, including squatting bars, birth balls and rocking chairs.
Providence St. Mary is also home to the region’s only Special Care Nursery, which provides intermediate care to vulnerable and premature babies born at 34 weeks gestation through full term.
Our team of experts will guide you through labor and delivery. Lactation experts offer breastfeeding education in English and Spanish. And, free lactation consultations are available after you go home.
Doctors provide well-baby care in your room. In fact, your baby doesn’t go to the nursery unless you choose so. Baby bath sinks easily accommodate a full tub bath. And, siblings, parents and grandparents are welcome to help.
After you go home
A few days after you go home, we offer a free post-partum visit with a nurse to make sure you and baby are doing well, and to answer any questions.
Our free mother and baby support group meets Mondays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to answer questions, weigh your baby and offer lactation support. We also offer birthing and infant CPR classes.
Growing with your family
Providence St. Mary Medical Center’s commitment to providing comfortable, safe, high-quality care for moms and newborns has never wavered. In August 2017, construction began to increase the number of delivery rooms, add a surgical suite in the unit and enlarge the Special Care Nursery for babies requiring a higher level of care. Future plans include renovating all eleven postpartum rooms (where mom and baby recover) to be more spacious, comfortable and up-to-date.
From treating common ailments to offering routine visits, our compassionate providers will get you in and out in no time.
