Volunteers Help Support Victims

Are you interested in supporting victims of sexual abuse and assault? Consider becoming a volunteer sexual assault advocate. Volunteers serve more than 2,800 clients per year and are essential to the services we provide.

Our volunteer sexual assault advocates:

  • Staff the 24-hour crisis hotline and may respond to the emergency room to support a victim of an assault.
  • Complete 40 hours of initial training and, for a time, work with an experienced advocate.
  • Commit to cover a minimum of two 12-hour, on-call shifts per month for at least one year.
  • Are required to attend a monthly training meeting the second Tuesday evening of the month, in order to maintain their required 12 hours of annual continuing education.
