At Providence Mother Joseph Care Center we know that promoting a healthy sense of self-esteem through mental and emotional stimulation is as important as physical well-being. To benefit the “whole” person, we offer many special services and amenities.

Our newly renovated building, thanks in part through charitable gifts to our foundation, has a reassuringly homelike feeling and offers ease of access and movement. Bay windows in resident rooms provide personal space for an assortment of keepsakes from home. Our two beautifully landscaped outdoor courtyards offer charming gazebos, picnic tables and raised gardening beds. We have a welcoming living room and cozy library that provide communal space for our residents to relax or visit with guests.

Recreational Activities

Leisure and recreational programs are designed by our Activities Department to improve functional abilities related to physical skills and personal knowledge goals. These programs also give our residents and staff a chance to be creative and provide a fun and cheerful atmosphere. Residents and patients enjoy weekly activities such as BINGO, baking, and arts and crafts. We offer regularly scheduled outings for shopping trips, dining out for lunch, going to the movies, or a day at the casino. We also have special seasonal outings like Seattle Mariners games, Music in the Park, ferry rides to Vashon Island, or Seniors Day at the Western Washington Fair. All patients, residents and family members are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Social Services
Our Social Services Department assists residents and families in addressing many needs, including mental health, financial adjustment and facility concerns, discharge planning and related issues. The social workers are knowledgeable about community services and will provide information and referrals as needed.

“When I left Mother Joseph’s I was very grateful for the special care I received from all the staff – nurses, aides, therapists. I know that God handpicked each and every one of these. They make you feel that you are the only one that needs attention!”
– J. Nunez, Providence Mother Joseph Care Center patient

“Six weeks after [knee replacement] surgery I am doing stairs much better than I could before surgery. I am sailing again and getting around on the boat just fine. I am walking without pain and moving in ways I haven’t for years.”
– J. Behrend, Providence Mother Joseph Care Center patient

“Recently I was in your care for about two weeks after bilateral knee replacement surgery. It was a little tough but with the help of caring people at Mother Joseph’s I sailed through. So much kindness and help and encouragement. You are doing a world of good, much more than you realize. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
– A. Minelga, Providence Mother Joseph Care Center patient

“I had the opportunity on Sunday, August 29 to visit your facility to visit my very favorite aunt. Upon walking into the building I was immediately struck by the cleanliness… As I walked the halls to my aunt’s room I encountered many of your staff members – all with smiles and each behaving as if they really wanted to be there… My visit with [my aunt] was short, but it didn’t take long to see how loved and well taken care of she is… I have worked in nursing homes myself, I had my dad in a nursing home for 3 years, and I had a 23 year career in acute care. Your facility ranks at the top of all nursing homes and your staff ranks at the top for friendliness, compassion, and dedication.”
– J. and R. Wold, Providence Mother Joseph Care Center resident’s family members
