Program Director

Laurianne Mullinax, M.S., MLS(ASCP)CM

Laurianne Mullinax

Education: Masters of Science, Laboratory Medicine; Bachelor of Science, Medical Technology from the University of Washington, Seattle. Bachelor of Science, Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Davis.

Experience: More than 12 years of clinical bench scientist experience working in Hematology, Microbiology and Urinalysis. Working as a MLS Program Director since 2015 and involved in clinical education for more than eight years.

Interests: Hiking, traveling, spending time with family and friends.


Clinical Instructor, Clinical Chemistry

Joel Adams, MLS(ASCP)CM

Joel Adams

Education: Bachelor of Science, Biology, Minor in Biochemistry Eastern Washington University; Graduate of Sacred Heart School of Medical Laboratory Science.

Experience: Five years of training and instructing in the US Army. Four years of experience in Clinical Chemistry and Immunology.

Interests: Faith, community engagement and outdoor recreation.

As a teacher, I love helping others cultivate their unique gifts and skills in order to realize their full professional potential.


Clinical Instructor, Hematology

Beth Payne, MT(ASCP), SH(ASCP)CM

Beth Payne

Education: Bachelor of Science, Biology, Gonzaga University; Graduate of Sacred Heart School of Medical Technology.

Experience: More than 30 years experience, mainly in Hematology.

Interests: Following my children’s sports activities, baking.

I felt a connection to Hematology from the first day of my training. The blood cells can really tell the story of a person’s health if you know how to read them correctly.


Clinical Instructor, Microbiology

Tim Burke, MLS(ASCP)CM

Tim Burke

Education: Bachelor of Science, Biology, Minor in Chemistry Eastern Washington University; Associate of Arts, Spokane Falls Community College; Graduate of Sacred Heart School of Medical Technology.

Experience: More than 15 years in the Microbiology department working at all of the various technical benches.

Interests: Being involved with my children’s sports and school activities; listening to various music genres and riding motorcycles.

I really enjoy working with the students. Every year they think I am challenging them to become better in Microbiology but they are also challenging me to become a better instructor. Students ask the best questions which often leads to new ways of teaching or explaining a subject.


Phlebotomy Instructor

Education: Associate of Science, Mt. San Antonio

Experience: More than 25 years as a Phlebotomy Instructor

Interests: Family; woodworking.

The most fulfilling aspect of teaching is to watch people grow in their ability to help others.


Education Technical Specialist

Leah Daily, MEd, MLS(ASCP)CM

Leah Daily

Education: Master of Health Professions Education from Rosalind Franklin University with an emphasis on Interprofessional Education; Bachelor of Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Weber State University.

Experience: Large hospital to small physicians’ clinics. Working in the clinical education field since 2006.

Interests: Being with my family, enjoying the outdoors, gardening and trying a variety of ethnic foods.

I believe each individual has a unique set of skills, when applied appropriately these individuals can excel beyond expectations. I am passionate about this career field and helping our students become the best they can be.

Wendy Thompson

Education: Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, Kansas State University

Experience: More than 14 years supporting continuing education in the laboratory setting.

Interests: Camping, reading and crafts.

I enjoy interacting with the students to help them achieve their goal to become an MLS.
