Why I chose Providence: I chose Providence Sacred Heart for residency because of the variety of acute care rotations that are offered. I knew that by training at Sacred Heart, I would finish the program and become a highly skilled, confident and knowledgeable pharmacist.

Personal Interests: Traveling, running and discovering new places to eat great food.

Current Residency Project: Evaluation of management pathways and prescribing practices of emergency medicine providers for patients with an active venous thromboembolism presentation.
Why I chose Providence: Providence Sacred Heart boasts endless learning opportunities through the variety of rotations. This allows me to explore my previously-established interests and gain exposure to new practice settings as part of a program with an extensive history of developing competent clinical pharmacists. The atmosphere of Sacred Heart was appealing to me as well, particularly working as part of an interdisciplinary team that truly values pharmacy input and being in a program that is clearly dedicated to the education of its residents. The emphasis on delivering excellent patient care, the many learning opportunities and a welcoming environment make Sacred Heart a wonderful place to be, and I am excited to be a part of this program!

Personal Interests: Traveling, hiking, cooking, reading, University of Iowa football (even when it’s painful to watch) and spending time with friends and family.

Current Residency Project: Evaluation of supratherapeutic INRs in hospitalized patients and implementation of pharmacist-led interventions to reduce these events.
Why I chose Providence: I chose Providence Sacred Heart because of the excellent, compassionate, patient-centered care they provide to their patients and the supportive nature of their pharmacy residency program. Sacred Heart offers a variety of diverse acute care rotations that are well established and challenging. The program’s commitment to their residents has made my experience here amazing so far and I am excited to see what the rest of my PGY1 year holds.

Personal Interests: Cooking, reading, playing board games and playing with my niece.

Current Residency Project: Reducing opioid prescriptions in opioid-naïve patients during hospitalization and at the time of discharge.
Why I chose Providence: I chose Providence Sacred Heart for the variety of acute care and teaching opportunities that aligned with my career goals. The mix of pediatric and adult patient care was also a major draw. However, this program is so much more than just a great learning environment. The people and core values are what make this hospital truly special. I am grateful to be part of a collaborative work culture that is both welcoming and supportive.

Why I chose Providence: I was drawn to Providence Sacred Heart because of the diverse opportunities available in hospital, ambulatory and intensive care rotations, as well as teaching through their affiliation with Washington State University. During my interview process, I was blown away by the welcoming atmosphere and the philosophy with which they treat their employees and residents. Their mission and core values are truly expressed in the policies, workflow and resources available to us. I believe I could achieve my goal of becoming an adept pharmacist here and enjoy my year in training, too. The pairing of great learning experiences with a wonderful work environment makes being at Sacred Heart Medical Center an absolute joy and I am excited to be part of the program!

Why I chose Providence:: I chose providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for my residency because of the variety of rotations available and the emphasis on patient care. The rotations offered here, as well as the teaching opportunities, align very closely with my interests. The vast diversity of specialty areas provide an excellent learning environment for me to develop as a pharmacist. Most importantly, I am eager to be part of the excellent and compassionate patient care that has always been a key aspect here.
